Ernie’s story is a great one. Originally from San Antonio, Texas, he's the son of a Mexican mother and a German father, and absolutely loves and honors his heritage. His mother read to him often, and Ernie has always enjoyed reading books, and makes a point to read a new book each month. He also enjoys classic movies, going to plays, supporting all athletic events, and loves to cook. He's also looking for a reason to make homemade flour tortillas to share with friends and family.
In 10th grade, his English teacher recommended that he join the school paper. Fast forward to today, he is the owner of a successful local media company covering our community as it has grown and changed over the years. He is a huge believer in the power of a teacher’s ability to transform lives. When teachers can focus on what they do best, they can have the greatest impact on our children. He and his wife of 26 years, Liz, have raised their four boys in Camas. Three of them are CHS graduates, with one son playing on our 2019 State Championship football team. Liz is also a para educator in our district. They are Papermakers through and through.
The Geigenmillers have come together as a family to support Ernie in his run for the School Board. They are also united on another battle front. It is widely known that Liz was recently diagnosed with stage 4 peritoneal cancer and is in the fight of her life. The Geigenmillers’ desire to continue to serve their community, even in the face of this devastating diagnosis speaks volumes about their love for the Camas community, and their dedication to preserving the values and relationships that have helped build this community for decades, while looking forward to making our school district the best that it can be.
In 1994, Ernie graduated with a B.A. in Communications from Brigham Young University, and he has a strong belief in continuing education.
